A Day of Fishing
By Capt. Pier Milito
As you start your day of fishing, having the necessary equipment and supplies is crucial. Making sure your equipment in the best possible condition is just as important. Nothing can be more frustrating than either forgetting some of the needed equipment or having the equipment on board and not having it work properly.

As a professional, I make sure that I am affiliated and use nothing but the best fishing equipment and tackle available. In the long run, for both professionals and weekend warriors alike, having the best equipment guarantees longer, trouble-free fishing resulting in more fun and more fish. The old saying “You get what you pay for!” is unquestionably true when it comes to fishing equipment.

For those of you that hire fishing guides on a regular basis, it is important to find out what type of equipment you are going to be fishing with while on the charter. If you’re the weekend warrior that battles the seas in your own vessel, the choice is yours.

“Captain, I have decided to sell my boat.” “Why?” “Well you see it’s cheaper for me to pay you once or twice a month to take me fishing than it is for me to own my own boat.” “Besides saving money…, whenever I fish with you I catch fish and I don’t have to worry about boat storage, maintenance, insurance, permits or licenses, bait, fuel, rods, reels, fishing lines, dock lines, navigation or even clean up.”

This was a conversation I had with a good customer of mine about 7 years ago. Initially, I thought my customer was crazy. But, after a few minutes of math I figured out that he was absolutely right. Since then many other customers have repeated the same thought. Think about it…

TACKLE STATION

Braided Lines: www.PowerPro.com

Have you ever heard; use the right tool for the right job? Personally I use monofilaments, fluorocarbons and braided lines, but when I need that “right tool” I reach for Power Pro. Power Pro braid has the tenacity to actually cut mangrove roots when I’m hooked up with a big snook deep in the backcountry. It also provides me with the sensitivity and no stretch feel for successfully fishing the deep blue offshore bottoms (over 200 feet deep) for grouper and other big fish. Power Pro is available in several different colors and a wide range of Lb test. Check them out on the web and as always if you have any questions about any of the TACKLE STATION featured products please feel free in contacting me direct for more information.
